uncanny // The uncanny (German: Das Unheimliche, “the opposite of what is familiar”) is a Freudian concept of an instance where something can be both familiar yet alien at the same time, resulting in a feeling of it being uncomfortably strange. Because the uncanny is familiar, yet incongruous, it often creates cognitive dissonance within the experiencing subject, due to the paradoxical nature of being simultaneously attracted to yet repulsed by an object. This cognitive dissonance often leads to an outright rejection of the object, as one would rather reject than rationalize, as in the uncanny valley effect. //

// 언캐니(독일어: Das Unheimliche, “익숙한 것의 반대”)는 친숙하면서도 동시에 낯설어 불편할 정도로 이상한 느낌을 주는 사례에 대한 프로이트적 개념입니다. 섬뜩함은 익숙하면서도 부조화하기 때문에 대상에 끌리면서도 동시에 거부감을 느끼는 역설적 성격으로 인해 경험하는 주체 내에서 인지적 부조화를 일으키는 경우가 많습니다. 이러한 인지적 부조화는 종종 불쾌한 계곡 효과처럼 합리화하기보다는 오히려 거부하려는 대상에 대한 노골적인 거부로 이어집니다. //

The subject of this project is interaction between human and plant. My First thought is that Do plants breathe like we human do?
